FLOW Activity: Pond Restoration Work in Almodington

November 6, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

The Project

FLOW (Fixing and Linking Our Wetlands) is a Heritage Lottery Funded Project to survey and improve the ditch network of the Manhood Peninsula, to prevent flooding and increase vital habitat for wildlife. FLOW works in the following parishes: Apuldram, Donnington, Earnley, East Wittering, Bracklesham, Hunston, North Mundham, Selsey, Sidlesham, West Wittering, West Itchenor and Birdham.

Volunteers will be working with the FLOW team on a recently dug out relic pond, to trim back some of the willow, create some dead hedges and lay some hedges to enhance the area for wildlife. We will be lifting some of the overhanging branches to get light in on the pond.

We will be working from 9.30 am until 3.30 pm, but any time you can give would be appreciated.

For conservation activities, we will provide tools and refreshments, but if you would like to bring your own gloves or tools then please do.

Please note that outdoor activities are subject to change, due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances. Subscribed volunteers who have RSVP’d to an event, via our emails, will be notified of relevant changes or cancellations, by the organiser[*].

There is parking in Almodington Nurseries, Batchmere Road, Almodington PO20 7LG, opposite the pond and a hi viz jacket will be put up at the entrance.

[*]Subscribed volunteers, who sign up to receive all volunteering news and upcoming events, can RSVP to events through our emails and will be notified of relevant updates or cancellations.
